I appliqued this cute kitty from fabric I found in a thrift store for free on to this new baby onesie for my cousin's new daughter. Everyone is having babies.

This was just too funny. Yoshi sits up-right all the time. I think he is really a space alien posing as a cat. It is so hard for him to fit in to the cat world.

Easy Wallet

I just finished this off today. It was so easy and I'm new to sewing. I made this for my vacation coming up so I don't have to carry my big purse around to all the theme parks.

One side has velcro for my cash and one side has no velcro for my cards. The wallet has a snap closure. This is thin enough to slip into my front or back pocket.

This was made with my grandmother-in-law's vintage fabric.

Fabric Coasters

I whipped these up last night. The front is in a toille fabric and the back is in a red & white gingham.

I sewed the four corners of the toille fabric (measured 4 inches with an additional 1/4 of an inch to fold under, i guess that is called "seam allowance"?) and used the double sided iron on adhesive stuff to adhere the gingham. It also makes the coasters pretty sturdy.

Everyone I know is gettin a set of these for Christmas!

Old Skool Nintendo Controller Pouch for yer Purse

Finally, after inhaling enough E-6000 to forget who I am and what planet I'm from, I completed my NES Controller project. I tried to make a tutorial, however, ummm..... this was a major trial & error project.

I'm not going to sit here & call out the flaws in this project, as I'm sure you can see them for your self, and if you can't, that is ok with me! : D

Tuesday Night Plushy

Here is my new bird I made tonight from my hubby's old sweater and my grandmother-in-law's vintage fabric.

I used fusible interfacing on both sides of the sweater material which made it easy to handle.

I am still not quite sure how to stitch the stuffing hole shut in a neat manner, but I unravled some of hubby's sweater and used it as thread to close the hole.

Inherited Antique Sewing Machine

My Mother-in-law delivered this beautiful antique sewing machine to my house today. It belonged to her mother-in-law's mother. It has the instruction book, needles, bobbins & everything that would go with it.

I think I will take it to a repair shop just to fix some cosmetic things. It is still working, the bobbin and needle are still threaded!

I also got tons of vintage sewing goodies to go with it. Fabrics, buttons, notions...

I appliqued this lil cupcake on a osh kosh diaper cover for my beautiful cousin's unborn daughter! I bet she'll be as cute as a cupcake. Still Friday night & listening to huck. I had to chase the cats out due to the ironing.

First Crazy Quilt

Here is my first mini crazy quilt I made a last year. I printed on regular ecru fabric I had in the scrap bin. I am not too proud of it, but I haven't made any new crafty things to post recently.

This is my first attempt at the stitches involved in making crazy quilts. This is definatly super busy. I learned a lot from working on this. This is why I keep my mistakes.

The Applique Experiment

I found this tacky $3.00 shirt at Wal-Mart and made it even tackier by adding my own applique designs & ric-rack.

I learned that if I'm going to applique on a shirt, it should be a plain shirt. I wore this shirt today and everyone kept commenting on the saying and not on the flowers & bird.

Let me add that I'm listening to Jane Austen's, "Sense and Sensibility" E-audio book from my public library.

Vintage Embroidery Floss

In the package of sewing goodies my darling mum-in-law sent me home with were an assortment of vintage sewing flosses. They are beautiful colors & very glossy.

I also wanted to show the neat wrapper.

Here are the pre-embroidery instructions:

Wash quickly in lukewarm water with ivory soap flakes, rubbing lightly between hands. Rinse in lukewarm water, squeeze water out. Allow to dry. Press under dam not wet cloth with moderately warm iron. Do not boil.

I want to use these, so I have to set aside time for this pre-embroidery ritual.

I believe the floss in the black wrappers must be boiled. I better find instructions online.

Fort Yoshi

Vintage Sewing Goodies

My mother-in-law sent me home from Sunday dinner with a big bag full of old sewing goodies that belonged to my husband's grandmother. I have tons of ric-rack, lace hem tape & bias tape that have never been opened! Great colors too.

I organized them into two vintage sewing baskets I found at a thrift store.

Vintage Ice Cream Scoop

Felt Bunnies

Marble Magnets

I finally figured out what to do with the cool little scraps of vintage fabric that aren't enough to really use.

Fabric marble magnets are sooo easy. I used basic fabric glue to cover the flat side of the marble and smushed it on the fabric. I let it sit there over night so it creates a good bond. The next day I trimmed off the excess and applied a piece of self adhesieve magnet to the back.

Paper magnets are just as easy. The only difference is that I use E6000 glue and squirt a blob onto a plate and dip the back of my marble into the glue. Smushing is fun with E6000.

Loungin Kitty

This is my smiley boy Yoshi. We adopted him a couple of months ago and he is so happy! He doesn't usually "meow", he just chirps and squeaks.

His previous family took him to the SPCA because their new kid was allergic. Hmmmm, I'd probably just get rid of the kid...

Cute Ribbon
